 Phasing in Carbohydrates
With the Thermojetics® High-
Protein, Low-Carb Program,
Herbalife Distributors and
customers can help reverse the
epidemic of obesity that has swept
America in the last decade. Some of
you have experienced the remarkable
benefits of weight loss and health
improvement as a result of using the
Thermojetics® High-Protein, Low-
Carb products and want to know the
next step.
“I’ve lost weight and feel
great. How do I maintain
my new shape?”
You’re approaching your goal
weight, your energy is up and you
want to include some of your old
favorites in your diet such as the
Thermojetics® Formula 1 Shake and
less restrictive eating. You can do
it–but gradually.
If you have achieved your ideal
body weight and you don’t have
unusual insulin sensitivity, you can
start enjoying Formula 1 again.
While Formula 1 - Protein Drink has a higher
carbohydrate content (13 to 17
grams, depending on the flavor), the
glycemic index is relatively low.
Because Formula 1 contains fructose,
a natural sugar, it stimulates insulin
a little less rapidly than most simple
sugars. Therefore, if you prefer, you
can begin having one Formula 1
Shake and one Thermojetics® High-
Protein, Low-Carb Shake a day.
In addition to adding back
Formula 1, you can also add
a little more variety to your
food choices.
You can have some of those carbohydrates
you used to crave, but the key is to
reintroduce them in steps. Simply
select one choice from the “yellow”
list in the Thermojetics® High-
Protein, Low-Carb Program Guide on
a daily basis or one choice from the
“red” list every other day.
However, to keep the
weight off for good, certain
carbohydrates should
continue to be restricted.
This doesn’t mean you can never
have a baked potato or a plate of
spaghetti, but it does suggest that
products made with white sugar,
white flour and certain root
vegetables should be a rare culinary
event.
As you increase carbohydrates,
concentrate on small fruits that have
the highest antioxidant power, such
as blueberries, grapes, strawberries,
plums, peaches and apricots. Leave
behind the bananas, mango,
papayas, pears, melon and
pineapples. Continue to avoid highly
processed foods made from white
flour, such as pasta, breads, cakes
and low-fiber cereals. Eat the skin of
the potato and not the white pulp, as
well as whole-grain cereal and
brown rice.
Follow these guidelines and you
will have achieved something very
special: an ideal body weight,
optimal health and new eating
habits that are guaranteed to
keep your weight in check
for life.
Savory Hints
World Team member
Sharon Minott, M.D., is a
gravy lover who has found a
way to spice up her gravy
while trimming down the fat
by using the Thermojetics® High-Protein, Low-Carb
Weight-Management Cream
of Chicken Soup Mix as a
flour base.
“It’s high in protein, low
in carbs and it tastes great!”
exclaims Sharon.
Barbara Samuel, Global
Expansion Team, has also
found a creative way to use
the Thermojetics® High-
Protein, Low-Carb Weight-
Management Cream of
Chicken Soup Mix.
“I thicken it by adding less
water than is recommended
and then use it as a tasty
sauce over broccoli. It gives
vegetables a real zest,” she
says. “When eating it as a
soup I like to add ingredients
like spinach and cheese.”
On the cooler side, Sharon
found a way to thicken the
texture of the Thermojetics® High-Protein, Low-Carb
Weight-Management Shakes
purely by accident!
“I made a shake and then
had to go do something, so I
left it in the refrigerator and
forgot about it until the next
morning. By the time I woke
up, it was much thicker and so
much better. Now I leave them
in the fridge on purpose!
“What’s more, with a little
less water, this shake is almost
a pudding. It tastes great!”
